Mangalore: The district in-charge minister B Ramanath Rai, held a press meet at his new office at District Commissioner premises to the unveil the initiative taken by the state government on Saturday November 16.

B Ramanath Rai said, “The central government has sanctioned Rs 4crore to mend the road repairs at the Shiradi ghats. The National Highway authority will commence the road work in a week.”

“The local MP who was responsible to undertake the initiative of road work has been irresponsible and merely playing a political gimmick, hence Transport minister Oscar Fernandez has come forward and been ingenious to undertake the work himself”, he added.

In addition he also said, “The former BJP government as well as the central government had never sanctioned funds exceeding Rs 125crore to the state while the congress transport minister, Oscar Fernandez under central road fund, has issued Rs 1,000crore for road development.”

B Ramanath Rai also recollected that when the chief minister of Chhattisgarh, Raman Singh provided rice for Rs 2, he was praised by people of the state, whereas the chief minister of Karnataka Siddaramaih has given rice for rice to the public for Rs 1 despite which he is not appreciated.

From the time the congress has come into power many initiatives have been launched focusing the weaker section of the society. As per the reports, around Rs 20 crore is allocated to the state for the arecanut farmers who suffered loss due excessive rains, out of which Rs six crore is distributed to the DK and Udupi districts.

Former Mayors Shashidar Heggde, Ashraf, Kodijal Ibrahim and others were present.
