Mangalore: The students councils in colleges provide a great opportunity to the student community to pursue democratic ideals and function in a democratic set up, said Mangalore South MLA JR Lobo.
He was speaking after inaugurating the Students Council of the St Aloysius Pre-University college at a function held at Loyola Hall of the College on July 1, Monday. Lobo further said the nation will have a bright future only when its youth power is channelized in the right direction. Good education imparted to students will go a long way in helping them effectively face the challenges ahead in life, Lobo further said.
Fr Elvis Lewis, Principal of the College, administered oath to new office bearers of the Students Council namely Rahul Vaz (President), Neil Rego (Vice President) and Justine Danthi(Secretary). Rahul administered oath to the Council members.
Fr Elvis, Principal who presided over the function, exhorted the student community to develop leadership qualities and said the nation needed good leaders.
Rekha Alva, Vice Principal was also on the dais.
