Kundapur : BJP National Vice President and former chief minister DV Sadananda Gowda has described the Karnataka Panchayat Raj(Amendment) Bill-2013 as destructive.

He was leading a protest organised by BJP gram panchayat members of Kundapur in front of the Kundapur Panchayat office on July 1, Monday in protest against the amended bill. Continuing, Gowda said the amended bill would come in the way of the decentralization of power. He charged the Congress government of trying to implement anti-people policies from day one.
Gowda also stated that the amended bill would give the regional commissioners the power to disqualify gram panchayat presidents who fail to convene at least two gram sabhas twice a year.
He called upon all gram panchayat members to resort to a state wide protest against the amended Bill. Gowda further said the BJP would not allow the Bill which has been passed in the assembly, to be passed in the Legislative Council.
Several BJP leaders including former minister Kota Srinivas Poojari, District BJP President Udaykumar Shetty, Kishore Kumar and Tingale Vikramarjuna Hegde took part in the protest programme.
