Cops stop the marriage of a minor girl

Beltangady: This was just like a last minute movie climax . The marriage of a minor girl aged 17yr was stopped at the last minitue by the intervention of the police.
 
The young girl who hails from Nuggehalli was to marry Ranga Shetty (26) from Doddamathighatta, both where from Channarayanapatna taluk,Hassan district on July  1 at private marriage hall in Dharmasthala . The bride happens to be Ranga Shettys elder sisters daughter .

The Beltangady police, Tahsildar of the taluk, and officials of child welfare department had information about this illegal marriage of a minor would take place but had not known the where abouts of the marriage party. Hence, Beltangady sub-inspector, Yogeesh Kumar led his team on a search. He visited the marriage hall early morning on Monday, and told the people concerned that the marriage will get cancelled and criminal cases would be registered against thefamily members, if they went ahead with conducting marriage rituals.

Finally the families agreed to cancel the marriage function. They were then brought to the Police station and made to execute an affidavit.
