St Agnes Convent celebrates centennial

Mangalore: The St Agnes Convent celebrated its centennial in the presence of Dr Aloysius Paul D’Souza the Bishop of Mangalore, Sr Agatha Mary, Superior General of Apostolic Carmel and J R Lobo the MLA of Mangalore South as chief guests on Sunday January 12.

The centenary celebration was a grand event, with performances and a dance drama on Mother Aloysia.

Dr Aloysius Paul D’Souza presided over the program. Sr M Linette, Provincial Superior, Karnataka,  Flavia Agnes, alumnus of St Agnes, and Fr Anthony Serrao, Parish Priest, Bendore Church, were the guests of honour. Sr M Lydia, superior, St Agnes Convent, was also present on the dais.

 Sr Vargilia, Sr Stanilis, Sr Karisma, Sr Maria Jyothi, Sr Shalini, Sr Maria Kripa, Sr Lydia, Sr Agatha Mary, and Sr Linette were felicitated for their service as superior general of the Convent.

A Eucharistic mass was held before the formal stage program. Dr Aloysius Paul D’Souza was the chief celebrant followed by other celebrants including Msgr Dennis Moras Prabhu, Fr Anthony Serrao, Fr Archie Gonsalves, Fr Pius James D’Souza, and Fr Julian Fernandes.Sr M Lydia, Sr Mary Prem D’Souza and Sr Jasweina were present for the event.
