Belthangady: The CBI team which is in Belthangady to investigate into the Sowjanya rape and murder case, has on Monday March 31 visited the residence of Prajaprabhutva Vedike President Mahesh Shetty Timarody and gathered some details.
Here it is worth mentioning that the Vedike has been in the lead in the agitation demanding justice for Sowjanya. Several organisations too have pledged support for the movement as part of which protests have been held across the district.
It is learnt, the CBI team is also investigating into the over 400 cases of unnatural deaths reported from the taluk in the past ten year period.
Speaking after the CBI team’s visit to his residence, Mahesh Shetty Timarody said he has not furnished any document or evidences. “But over 25 persons have furnished information to the CBI. The investigating officials have also gathered details regarding the several unnatural deaths in other parts of the taluk as well as the presence of land mafia,” Shetty said.
Along with the CBI team, even Intelligence Department officials have joined the investigation.
