Mangalore :  Satyajith Suratkal, Convenor of the Karnataka South unit of Hindu Jagarana Vedike has demanded that the government should hand over the Sowjanya rape and murder case to the CBI immediately.

Speaking to reporters here, he alleged that  the police and the CID were unable to investigate the case  thoroughly owing to pressure from powerful people. This has made the culprits move around freely, he said adding the CID was also trying to close the case.

Satyajith also demanded stern punishment to the culprits. He said the CBI should probe the case under the surveillance of court so that there is no scope of misleading the CBI sleuths.
