Mangalore : A surprise visit by State Urban Development Minister Vinaykumar Sorake to the Mangalore City Corporation office on September 3, Tuesday kept the MCC officials on their toes.
The Minister who spoke to the MCC Commissioner and other senior officials also visited the various departments and interacted with the staff. He directed the MCC staff to ensure that no file is kept pending for long and directed them to clear the files within three days.
The staff shortage in the MCC office was brought to the notice of the minister on the occasion. The minister said a proposal in this regard has already been sent to the Finance Department and appointments would soon be made.
The Minister during his visit directed the MCC Commissioner Ajith Kumar Hegde to submit a report within 15 days on the Greater Mangalore Project which envisages inclusion of Mulki, Moodbidri, Ullal and other areas within MCC limits and also aims to provide better infrastructural facilities.
He said the KUDCEMP second phase works would be taken up in Mangalore, Udupi, Kundapur and Puttur.
Formation of ward committees : Vinaykumar Sorake also instructed the MCC authorities to take steps towards formation of ward committees and Resident Welfare Committees. He said the first installment of Rs 100 crore grant has already been released to the MCC and of the second installment of an equal amount a sum of Rs 15 crores has been released as of now.
