Kokkada : Six persons sustained serious injuries in a head on collision between a excise police vehicle and an autorickshaw at Boladabailu near Kokkada on the Dharmasthala-Periyashanthi highway on October 27, Sunday evening.
The mishap took place when D Rajanna the Excise inspector of Chamrajanagara and his colleagues were returning to Dhamasthala from Karwar. It is said the Bolero vehicle was on the wrong side and hit the autorickshaw in which Ashraf was returning to Charmadi with his brother’s family members. The impact of the collision was such that the Bolero had fallen into a ditch on the other side of the road.
Those injured namely Ashraf, the auto driver, his elder brother Hamza, his wife Fathima, son Arshad and two daughters, D Rajanna, excise inspector, vehicle driver Madegowda and constables HC Lokesh and Govinda Raju have been hospitalised.
Meanwhile, the tracing of several liquor bottles in the Bolero vehicle has given room for suspicion that drunken driving had led to the mishap.
