Sullia: The parents and students who had applied for admissions into unaided schools here under the Right to Education Act are left in lurch.
Though these students were initially notified that their admissions have been secured, now the schools have been citing jurisdictional issues to give admissions to these kids.
The parents and students of such children met the Block Education Officers and brought the matter to his notice and sought corrective measures.
They said that in Sullia taluk there are 12 unaided schools where 143 students could be given admissions. However, a total of 213 students applied for seats, out of which 112 were given admission. On Saturday, however, it was learnt that only 30 out 112 would be given admissions and the schools have been saying that since the rejected students are living in wards which are out the schools’ jurisdiction, they cannot be admitted to the schools.
The matter has been brought to the notice of the DC and action is now being awaited.
