Kasargod : At least four houses are facing danger due to severe sea erosion at Chembarika in the district. Reports say that the temporary sea walls raised to prevent erosion have collapsed and washed away by the mighty tidal waves.

As much as 2 km of land has been engulfed by the sea and the local residents have been spending sleepless nights since the past three days. Several coconut trees too have been washed away.
The Karavali Samrakshana Samithi President KS Sali has drawn the attention of the Deputy Commissioner towards the problem and has blamed indiscriminate sand mining for the sea erosion.
It is learnt that sand is mined continuously from the sea shore using the JCB.
