Kidnap of minor girl: Prime accused among 2 arrested in Bijapur

Bantwal : Bantwal Rural police have arrested two persons including the prime accused in the case of alleged kidnap of a 15 year old girl  of Sarapady village. The arrests were made at Bijapur by a  police team led by Bantwal Rural SI Nagaraj and  Vittal’s in-charge SI Sanjeeva Tallur.

The arrested are Ashok (32) of Bijjaragi in Bijapur district and his friend Ravi alias Narasimha (40). They have been produced before the Bantwal Magistrate in the evening and remanded to a day’s judicial custody. The duo had kidnapped the minor daughter of late Jayanth Poojari and Vishalakshi couple of Nadayi in Sarapady. Police are likely to seek their custody for further interrogation.

Police have already arrested the girl’s aunt Savitha and  Basavaraju, the uncle of Ashok in connection with the case. Both are in judicial custody. The girl, a tenth standard student of Navoor Government High School who had left for Bantwal to purchase a new pair of slippers along with her aunt on March 17 was reported missing. It is learnt, she was in touch with Ashok who used to come for sale of raisins.

The girl was later traced at Athani Kompala in Belgaum and is presently in remand home.
