Sajipanadu villagers protest against inaction of Gram Panchayat

Bantwal : Villagers of Sajipanadu, under the aegis of the Sajipa Hitharakshana Vedike and Social Democratic Party  organised a protest  in front of the Panchayat office on February 25, Tuesday by beating drums to condemn the   apathetic attitude of the  Gram Panchayat towards civic grievances.

Hundreds of villagers participated in the protest which was led by Gram Panchayat Member Mohammad Nasir. They demanded early steps to fill in vacancies in the Gram Panchayat office,to replace the present PDO by an efficient officer and to investigate the alleged irregularities in implementation of Employment Guarantee Scheme,

Some other demands are to shift the Kanchinadkapadavu waste treatment yard to some other place, to give priority to cleanliness  etc.

The protestors also accused the panchayat of being partisan and said only 11 wells are being sunk in Sajipanadu village owing to the apathy of the officials  though over 100 wells are being sunk in various other villages of the taluk.

The Bantwal TP Executive Officer Cyprian Miranda   accepted memorandum from the protestors and assured to look into the demands.

Rehman, President of the Hitharakshana Vedike, Rasheed, its Secretary, Iqbal, President of Sajipanadu unit of SDPI,  Beepathima, Gram Panchayat Member and others took part in the protest.
