Bangalore: State Minister D K Shivakumar, while replying to a question raised by Tara Anuradha of BJP in the Legislative Council on February 25, Tuesday made a staggering revelation that various governmental agencies including the ESCOMS together owe a whopping sum of Rs 9,050 crore to the Energy department.
He also mentioned that even the gram panchayats and urban local bodies owe huge arrears towards power consumption. The gram panchayats and urban local bodies owe no less than Rs 700 crore.
In the list provided by the minister, the government itself owes Rs 42.7 crore to the Energy Department towards power concessions to information technology companies and other industries.
