Rs.8.52 cr hawala money, Sriramulu handbills seized in Bellary

Bellary : Election officials who raided the residence of a private financier named Babulal here on the morning of Saturday April 12, have seized hawala money amounting to Rs 8.52 crores apart from election handbills with photographs of BJP candidate Sriramulu.

Bellary Deputy Commissioner and  District Superintendent of Police have informed that the cash was collected to distribute to candidates in the LS election fray. They also said a notice has been served to Babulal to  furnish details regarding the cash. It is learnt, Babulal has been booked under IPC Section 171 (E) 188 on charges of collecting hawala money.

Election officials who also conducted a raid at Hosapete have seized Rs 1.22 crore belonging to another financier named Vikram Jain.
