Mangalore: The District Administration, Regional Transport Authority (RTA) and the Police Department jointly organized the 25th National Road Safety Week at Town hall on Tuesday January 21.











The guest of honour, Ananthakrishna, ex-officio Chairman of Karnataka Bank inaugurated the function.Addressing the audience, he said that creating awareness about road safety is very important and such initiations will generate responsiveness towards implementation of traffic rules.
“When it comes to the question of road safety, there are three main aspects – quality of roads, quality of vehicles and adherence to traffic rules. It is the duty of the government to ensure that the roads are clean and safe,” he added.
Ananthakrishna also spoke on noise pollution and various other aspects related to traffic.
MLA J R Lobo who was also present as a chief guest, expressed his views on traffic regulations. Western Range IGP Pratap Reddy, KCCI President Mohammed Ameen, SP Shanthanu Sinha, Canara Bus Owners’ Association President Rajavarma Ballal, DCP Jagadish and RTO Afzal Ahmed Khan were also present on the dais.
Students from various schools of the city also enthusiastically took part in this event. The week-long road safety programme will culminate on January 27.
