Moodbidri : The 12th flood lit Koti Chennaya Jodukere Kambala will be held at the Kadalakere Nisargadhama of Veerarani Abbakka Samskruti Grama at Ontikatte on January 25 under the aegis of the Kote-Chenneya Jodukere Kambala Committee.


This was informed by State Minister for Youth Affairs and Sports K Abhayachandra Jain at a press meet convened at Kadalakere Nisargadhama on January 20, Monday. He said a sum of Rs 30 lakh has been released for the development of the Kambala fields and added a beautiful gallery as well as referee stands have been constructed. Modern lavatories have also been built to facilitate people attending the event. He said from this year onwards, the winners including the jockeys and owners will get Rs one lakh cash and Kreeda Ratna Award.
Pointing out that the Kadalakere was desilted at a cost of Rs one crore last year, he said Rs one crore would be allotted this year too for the construction of a permanent Ranga Mandir, Shuttle court and an embankment to the lake.
Gunapal Kadamba, General Secretary of the Kambala Committee said the Kambala results will be documented through ropeway and aerial camera. The Radha Kalyana teleserial team will videograph the entire event, he said adding film actress and MP Ramya, ministers Ramanatha Rai, UT Khader, Ambarish, Kimmane Ratnaker and MPs Jayaprakash Hegde and Nalin Kumar Kateel will be the chief guests. Rajyotsava Award winner Payyottu Sadashiva Salian will be honoured on the occasion, he informed.
Bhasker S Kotian, President of the Kambala Committee, Suresh K Poojari, General Secretary, Chandrahas Sanil, Suresh Prabhu, Suresh Kotian, Premnath Marla and other office bearers were present.
