Bantwal: Two days after a gruesome serial accident claimed five lives in Valachil, yet another accident involving a Maruti Omni and a KSRTC bus left three dead on the spot. The mishap took place near Mani-Konaje here on Sunday evening.

Omni driver Tejas(22), Varsha(19) and Sandhya(21) are the deceased.
Deceased Tejas, son of Laxmana Poojary from Balnad village was employed in the garment shop for the past few years. He has left behind parents and a brother. Another deaceased Varsha(19), daughter of Narayana Poojary from Kemminje village was a second year degree student and was working in the shop as salesgirl on her vacation to meet the expenses like college fee. She is survived by parents and a sister. Third deceased in the mishap Sandhya(21) is the daughter of Shivakumar from Olamogru. “My daughter left home saying that she would be late as she was going to Panolibailu. Where is my daughter, what has happened to her, bring my child…bereaved mother of the deceased wept in front of the hospital. Sandhya is survived by parents, two sisters and a brother.
Sharanya(18) and Navya(18) from Bannur, Namitha(23), Nayana(19), Pavithra(20), Yakshith(19) from Rotarypura, Sumithra(20) from Kemminje were injured in the deadly accident. Sharanya, Namitha, Nayana and Pavithra have suffered serious injuries and have been shifted to Mangaluru hospital. Sunil and Navya are undergoing treatment at Puttur hospital.
It is learnt that 10 people, all employees of Sanjeeva Shetty garment shop were heading towards Panolibailu temple after finishing their work in the afternoon itself as it was a Sunday. According to eyewitnesses, the Omni driver in a bid to overtake an ongoing rikshaw, drove to the extreme right of the road and rammed into a government bus from the opposite direction.
The locals shifted the injured persons to Kalladka private hospital for first aid and then rushed them to Mangaluru hospital.
District police superintendent Dr Bhushan G Borase, Puttur DySP Bhaskar Rai, Bantwal circle inspector Belliyappa and other police officials visited the spot. KSRTC officials Nagaraj Shirali, Venugopal, and Dharmayya also came to the spot.
However, due to the intensity of the mishap the Omni car in which they were plying has been reduced to a mere mangled remain.
