Bengaluru: The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) has decided to act tough on its staff that has been rooted in the same posts for more than three years.

The standing committee on staff and administrative reforms has decided to transfer 1,230 officials to other BBMP zones and bring transitory change in administrative methodology.

At present the staff strength of BBMP is 1,400, out of which 270 officials of different cadre are working on deputation for many years now. The standing committee has decided to send back all the officials under deputation to their parent departments. The transfer orders are expected to be issued by this month end.

The decision had sent shock waves to several officers as they are obviously involved in nasty tactics to cancel their transfer orders.

According to the BBMP sources, the officials under transfer radar are tailgating to the residents of authorities concerned and their political proteges.

Speaking to Newskarnataka.com, Rajanna, Chairman of standing committee for staff and administrative reforms said that the decision taken by the committee is firm and that they will not bow down to any sort of pressure from outside.

Adding further, “its obvious that some of the politically and financially strong officials do involve in relatively bribing practices, but to my knowledge no pressure has been put on any of the committee members so far” he said.

This apart, monsoon bring along the seasons of transfers and keeping in sync with this the officials serving in various departments are often seen congregating to corridors of power with ‘briefcases’. Beeline of nervous officials serving in various departments can be seen power corridors, making that desperate attempt to either foil a transfer or to get transfer to their desired location.
