Road connectivity problem to be solved in 10 days: Moily

Mangalore : There are complaints that the work on Mangalore Special Economic Zone (MSEZ) was delayed due to improper road connectivity. A meeting should be held with the residents residing in the areas and the problems need to be solved within ten days, said Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas M Veerappa Moily.

Speaking to mediapersons, after conducting a review meeting at the Deputy Commissioners office on Monday, he said that discussions needs to be held on providing jobs as well as rehabilitation packages to the people. “Without the completion of the MSEZ project, it will not be possible to give jobs to those who have lost land. Hence, cooperation of the public is required, if they want employment,” Moily stressed.

There are plans to give connection to two port cities Mangalore and Chennai through Bangalore under Green Field Highway Corridor. He also spoke on construction of a tunnel to widen Shiradi Ghat road. Madikeri-Mangalore, Mysore-Bangalore and Mangalore-Dharmasthala through Belthangady upto Charmadi road will be upgraded as National Highways, the runway of Mangalore international airport needs to be extended, he said the sources.
