Newskarnataka – Udupi
Udupi / Mysore: The early monsoon indeed cooled the temperature of the district; people here expressed mixed feeling for it. Few are relaxed with the rainfall since past two days, while others are slightly depressed with the early arrival of monsoon.

Usually summer period is considered from March to May, when the temperature reaches up to 40°C. However this year it looks like monsoon has arrived a month before.
On the other hand, Shekar Poojari, PWD contractor said “We were expecting rains in the first week of June and plan was to finish our work by then.”
“But if the rainfall continues like this we have to stop all our work for another three months. Most of the construction works are stopped for now”, he added.
“This is also the peak time to visit beaches. Kaup and Malpe beach will usually be filled with tourists especially on Sundays. People may not turn back if the rainfall continue like this”, said a security guard of a beach.
The NH had resumed a few months ago that too after much protests by the locals. But the rain has stopped even this work. Repair work of NH 17 would be taken up within a couple of days after the rain stops, authorities said.
The thunder and lightning had created lots of damages in city as well. The road links were inundated owing to moderate rains. The pathetic condition of the roads in the city with pits everywhere created problems, except the important roads (four lane roads and state highway). As the roads are more slippery, chances of accidents have also increased.
