Bantwal: The Vice President of the Sarapady Gram Panchayat who was admitted to a private hospital in Bantwal for her delivery, has died on September 20, Friday. Meanwhile, her villagers and family members have blamed doctors at the hospital for failing to give her proper treatment resulting in her death.
The deceased woman is Shakuntala (32). Her husband Om Shanthi has lodged a complaint with the police against Dr Indira of the hospital, accusing her of medical negligence.
Shakuntala was admitted to the hospital on Thursday after she developed labour pains. It is said despite much efforts her condition worsened on Friday when doctors asked the family to shift her to some hospital in Mangalore. Sources said Shakuntala died when she was being taken to the hospital in an ambulance.
Shakuntala has two children, a daughter Samatha who is a fifth standard student and son Samanth, a third standard student.
Villagers meanwhile blame the hospital authorities themselves and say similar such incidents had taken place in the hospital even in the past.
