Kasargod: A Committee that was formed by the locals for infrastructural development decided to lay road blockade in protest against the pathetic condition of Badiyadka-Mulleria Road, near here on September 26.

The vehicular traffic will come to standstill on September 26. The Committee will hold mobile campaign from Badiyadka to Mulleria on September 24 in this regard. Even after this, if their demand for urgent repairs to roads is not fulfilled, the Committee will hold massive protest, said the office bearers of Committee during the press meet held here on Friday September 20.
The road linking Kumbla – Badiyadka – Mulleria is the vital lifeline linking Karnataka with Kerala. Over 35 buses and thousands of vehicles ply on this road. It’s the lifeline for the people living in Delampady, Karadka, Belloor, Kumbdaje and Badiyadka to reach Mangalore. The thirteen-kilometer stretch of road between Badiyadka and Mulleria has not seen repairs since several years. The concerned department officials have no proper reply for un-repairs.
The district administration approved to re-asphalting on 39 kilometers of road between Kumbla and Mulleria, allege the Committee. The PWD minister inaugurated the re-asphalting and other development works during September 2012. A tender was called at a cost of Rs 19 crore. The funds are earmarked for Badiyadka – Kumbla road of 17 ki9lometers instead of Kumbla – Mulleria road of 29 kilometers. This decision was taken by the elected representatives of Kosargod and Manjeshwar, contractors and district officers during July 2013, informed the Committee. The road from Badiyadka to Mulleria is in ill state and has not seen any repairs, allege the Committee.
