Attur man gets lifer for murder

Karkala : A person hailing from Attur who was arrested on charges of murder, has been convicted by the Udupi District Court. The court has imposed a life imprisonment on him  and has also slapped a penalty of Rs 5000.

The convict is Veerendra Poojari (38) is from Attur. He had  been arrested for murdering one Sandeep Kulal (30) at Nitte Atturpadavu on April 23,2012.

Veerendra Poojari had murdered Sandeep after an altercation with him at a wedding function over the Rs 20,000 which he had borrowed from Sandeep’s brother Santosh Kulal. It is learnt Veerendra had  borrowed the amount from the chit fund of Santosh, but had not repaid it.

He had hacked Sandeep to death with a sharp weapon near the local bus stand.

Justice BM Angadi who had heard the case, has passed the judgement sentencing Veerendra Poojari to life imprisonment  on September 20, Friday.
