Moodbidri : People residing in  Iruvail and Puchemogaru have been greatly affected following the collapse of a pedestrian bridge  at Sangadibailu in Puchemogaru village due to heavy rains on Tuesday June 10.

The bridge was constructed about half a century ago  due to the initiative of the then village Patel ID Tyampanna Shetty. It was a vital link to people heading towards Konnepadavu Iruvail and Nityananda School. The same route is used to bring the Bhandara of the Kumbhantini Daivasthana during the annual fair.

Now, with the collapse of the bridge, the general public as well as he school children are forced to opt for a roundabout route which is time consuming. Local residents allege that the apathy of the authorities as well as the local MLA to the demand to repair the bridge despite  drawing their attention towards its  deteriorating condition, has eventually led to its collapse.
