Udupi: A protest was held in front of DC office at Manipal on Monday January 20, demanding stringent action against Dheeraj Shetty the BJP Councilor and Bajrang Dal activists, as he has been alleged of an assault on a minor girl and her father with regards to a land dispute.

The land dispute between the girl and Dheeraj Shetty states that the road amid their house belongs to the government whereas Dheeraj the opponent says it belong to him.
 
The D’Souza family (girl’s family) had given a complaint twice earlier when Dheeraj Shetty blocked the road, the DC was brought into account wherein he got the wall removed and warned Dheeraj to not construct any structure until the dispute is solved, later the Tahsildar also addressed the matter and advised the same claimed, Jacintha D’Souza, girl’s mother

However on Sunday when the accused started building the wall, the girl took their pictures, for which she was assaulted.
 
The complaint has been extended to other accused; those are Vishwanath, Suresh, Sushant, Shiva, Vanaja, Nalini, Subraya, Nithin, Satish, Harish and fifty other people who blocked the way to their house by building a stone wall.

A memo also states the negligent part of the police. A memorandum was submitted to the ADC Kumar by the protestors and he assured of taking necessary action at the earliest.
