Mangalore: After a patient accused Dr Niyaz, a trainee at Yenepoya Hospital in Deralakatte of sexually assaulting her, a mass protest was held on Tuesday February 11 by the supporters of the doctor who claimed that the allegation was false.

The protest was held in front of the Yenepoya Hospital after which the protestors also blocked the road. The supporters of the doctor were mainly other trainee doctors from the hospital.
The police who arrived at the venue of the protest assured of a proper investigation into the case to find out the truth. Sources said the accused Dr Niyaz has not reported to duty on Tuesday.
Earlier, the management committee in a letter to the vice-chancellor of Yenepoya University said that Dr Niyaz had tried to stop another person from recording a video of an outpatient, when a group of bystanders assaulted him. Meanwhile, other reports say that the patient complained of a chest pain due to a boil near her breast and that the patient misunderstood the doctor and created a chaos while the latter was medically examining her. The truth however will be known only after a thorough investigation.
