Karkala : The Karkala Taluk Pragathipara Nagarikara and Karnataka Rakshana Vedike jointly staged a protest in front of the Bantwal Taluk Office on February 19, Wednesday to condemn the discrepancies in the taluk office. The protestors complained of delay in clearing of files, demand for bribe and lackadaisical approach of staff.



HK Sridhar Shetty, trade union leader who addressed the protest meet, said public are harassed through inordinate delay in clearance of files on the pretext of computerisation of documents. Even RTI queries are kept pending for long, he said and alleged that the complaint made to the Assistant Commissioner was futile.
Kerebettu Sanjeeva Shetty, President of Pragathipara Nagarika Vedike, Shivaprasad Shetty, District leader of Karnataka Rakshana Vedike, Nitish Poojari, Vittal Gowda, Krishna Devadiga and others participated in the protest.
A memorandum as submitted to the Tahsildar seeking to immediately suspend corrupt and high handed officials and appoint sincere officers in their place.
