Mangalore : In a major breakthrough, the City Crime Branch Police have arrested the prime accused in the Bejai Bharathi Builders shoot-out case. The arrest was made on April 9, Wednesday at Mumbai.
The accused is Datta alias Dattatreya Tukaram Wagre (27) who hailed from Karad taluk in Satara district of Maharashtra.
The police have already arrested two persons namely Ganesh Laxman Saket and Mukesh Shivaji Kambli in Mumbai in connection with the case and seized a pistol, three rounds of bullets and a motor cycle used by the accused. Ganesh and Hitesh from Haleangady, said to be informers were also arrested apart from Anto alias Anand Kumar of Bangalore, Abubakker Siddique of Mudipu, Nitin Kumar of Karkala and Guruprasanna of Salethur, all of them aides of Ravi Poojary and Kali Yogish.
The arrests were made by CCB Inspector Valentine D’Souza, Urva Inspector Chandrashekhar and other personnel at the instructions and directions of Mangalore Police Commissioner R Hitendra and DCP (law and order) Jagadeesh and DCP (Crime) Vishnuvardhan.
