Mangalore: Magnum Intergrafiks Chairman Sudhir Ghate has called upon journalists to give more attention towards presenting factual reports sans glorification of any event. He was speaking after inaugurating Press Club Day programmes organized by the Mangalore Press Club, DK District Working Journalists Association and Patrika Bhavan Trust on March 16, Saturday at Lions Seva Mandir, Kadri.
Stating that the media field has seen significant technology driven changes, he said journalists have the responsibility of seeing to it that the changes are used for good.
Senior journalist and Udayavani Mangalore Bureau Chief Manohar Prasad said one sees a lot of change in the way news is presented these days. Commenting on how some media had telecast news pertaining to a discord between celebrity couple for as long as a week, he said such instances would disillusion the public. He called upon the media fraternity to incorporate healthy journalistic policies.
Dr KN Vijayaprakash, Chief Executive Officer of DK Zilla Panchayat, who was present as a chief guest, requested scribes to present fact based reports without distorting facts.
Upcoming Tulu actor Arjun Kapikad, Mangalore Press Club President Ramakrishna R, Secretary Kiran Sirsikar, DK Working Journalists’ Union President PB Harish Rai, Secretary Srinivas Nayak Indaje, Patrika Bhavan Trust President, Ravindra Shetty and others were present.
Prizes were awarded to media men who won in various contests. Scribes also presented a variety entertainment programme.
