Udupi : Renowned TV journalist Rajdeep Sardesai has stressed the need for media to give more emphasis on Positive Reporting.

Participating in an interactive meet with students of Manipal School of Communication on July 31, Wednesday, Sardesai regretted the fact that the electronic media was attaching too much importance to negative reporting in the recent times.
“Though the media has undergone a sea change over the past 25 years, there has been no improvement on the quality front,” he further regretted.
Media should not concentrate merely on entertainment and glorification of crime, there should be sincerity and credibility and some amount of self regulation, Page Three stories should never come to Page 1, he observed.
Continuing, Rajdeep Sardesai made a strong case for the setting up of an Autonomic Regulatory Authority for the media. However, this Authority should not be under government control, he added.
Varadesh Hiregange, Director of Manipal School of Communication, Alexander Chandy, Director, Communications and Media Relations of Manipal University were also present on the dais.
