Udupi: While the daughter-father duo who claimed of being abused by a group of people, while they raged them with foul language and physical abused. The police have an entire different story to deliver. The police version says that it has been more of a civil conflict.






Speaking exclusively to NewsKarnataka, DySP Annamalai of Karkala discussed the entire issue, he said, “The case is actually a civil offence, wherein a land dispute had been occurred between neighbors, BJP member Dheeraj Shetty who is also associated to Kuthyar panchayat stays adjacent to the girl. For many years now there has been a land dispute among both the family for a road that passes through their property.”
According to DySP Annamalai of Karkala it has been learnt that there is a road that passes through their houses while a long standing dispute between both the families on the ownership of the land has been going on, Dheeraj instigated a construction over the road claiming it to be his land.
“Discovering the fact the girl tried to film the construction on her mobile phone, Dheeraj Shetty got infuriated, he then snatched the mobile phone from her hand and slapped her”, Annamalai added.
Annamalai also said that the fight created collision from both the sides and a fight outraged. Moreover when the girl went to register a complaint with the Ashok the PSI of Shirva, he behaved slipshod and did not pay attention to her complaint.
“Distressed with the situation the girl approached me in the morning and registered a complaint against the PSI as well as Dheeraj Shetty, and I have assured her to look into the matter and investigate on the case”, stated Annamalai.
DySP Annamalai also informed that there were two more civil cases registered earlier with regards to the same from the girl’s side, wherein the Tashildar and the DC had looked into the matter but no resort has been delivered yet. Dheeraj Shetty’s wife has also filed a counter complaint accusing that the girl’s parents have assaulted her.
Civil and Criminal cases have been registered against both the parties under section 354, 145, 143, 147, and 504.
A massive protest by all communities is scheduled to be held in Shirva urging the police to take action.
