Udupi: In a dreadful incident around 40 people assaulted and abused a 17-year-old girl and her father at Shirva with regards to a land dispute on Sunday January 19.

The girl who is a BSc student was abused by a group as they raged on her with abusive words. When the girl’s father came to her rescue, he was also allegedly assaulted and abused by the people.

The girl has identified few of the members who indicted her, she has named BJP member Dheeraj Shetty who is also associated to Kuthyar panchayat along with Suresh, Sushant, Subya, Vishwanth and a woman named Vanajawas is also said to be involved among the offenders.

The girls also revealed that Sushant was recording video while assaulting and abusing her, despite the fact that the outrage had been at such a huge extent, the Shirva police have paid no heed to the matter.

After the girl filed a complaint at Shirva police station, reprehensibly the Shirva police did not seem to be concerned or try to rectify the case, moreover when the father of the girl was taken to the government hospital in Shirva, they were neither administrated nor given treatment. Although the doctors noted down her description but no action has been taken.

Reportedly it has been speculated that there is some connection between the miscreants and district in-charge minister Vinay Kumar Sorake, due to which the police also has not been taking any action.

While the Daughter-father duo has urged to the officials to address their issue and help them from these corrupt doings, a massive protest by all communities has been planned in Shirva if police fail to arrest the accused by the end of the day. On the other hand the police, administration as well as the doctors have sustained their silence.
