Sullia : “Sulia police intercepted a biker and detained heroin and bogus notes worth of Rs 31, 12,380, and arrested the smuggler,” said the district additional S P T P Shivkumar while addressing a press conference at the S P office on Saturday, March 1.


With the earlier information of a person smuggling illegal goods from Puttur to Sullia, the police grabbed the accused and identified him as K M Imthiyaz (30), a resident of Ynmakaje, Kasargod. On NH 88, near Adkar Vinobhanagar, Jalsoor of Sullia taluk, the police stopped the accused that made an attempt to escape. The police encircled and questioned him and later they took him in custody and seized his bike.
The accused had 120 grams of heroin, forged notes which values Rs 76,200 with the denomination of 148 notes of Rs 500, and 22 notes of Rs 100, and with some coins. Shivkumar says that the seized items value about Rs 31, 12, 380.
S P Shanthanu led the raid with the added help of Puttur division DYSP H D Mendonca, S P T Shivakumar, Sullia PCI Sathish, PSI Nagesh and other staff Madhava, Pramila, Bhaskar, Naveen, Sanjeeva Murthy, Devraj and many others took active part in this operation. Probationary DYSP Sajeeth and Sullia PCI Shivkumar were present at the press meet.
