Mangalore: The BJP has come down heavily on the Congress decision to hold internal elections to choose its candidate for Dakshina Kannada Lok Sabha constituency.

Speaking to reporters here on March 1, Saturday, State BJP Vice President Bhanuprakash was also critical of the Congress for choosing DK constituency for its experiment particularly when senior leader B Janardhan Poojari  is a key contender.

Bhanuprakash said  it was astonishing  to note the party decision to hold internal elections which he said was an experiment on Janardhan Poojari.

On the  rumours regarding the candidature of sitting MP Nalin Kumar Kateel, Bhanuprakash said Nalin is the party’s choice  even now and added a change of candidate was impossible.

He said Nalin will campaign rigorously for the elections.

Pratap Simha Nayak said the campaigning has kick-started in Puttur. He also claimed that consequent upon Bharatha Gellisi Rally of Modi in the city, the party has received several emails and SMSes with more people  saying they would strive for the party’s win in the elections.

He said the BJP supported the March 3 bundh against Yettinahole project. A protest will also be staged in front of MCC office by BJP corporators condemning the delay in electing Mayor.

Sunil Kumar, Legislator of Karkala was also present.
