Mangalore : Janaki Bharmavara the new President of Karnataka Tulu Sahitya Academy took charge on Saturday March 1,2014 in the presence of  Umanth a kotiyan , Dr Vaman Nandavar,  Seethram Kulal, Chandras Rai , B Ganesh Amin, Sankamar Jaganatha shetty, Belare vasanth shetty and Kishor D Shetty and Tulu Academy Members at Tulu chavadi hall Mangalore.

M. Janaki Brahmavar has been appointed as the President of Karnataka Tulu Sahitya Academy. She is the first woman president and eighth president of the academy since its inception in 1994-95.

Born at Moodukudru in Udupi taluk, M. Janaki Brahmavar worked as a lecturer at St. Mary Syrian Pre-University College, Brahmavar, before retiring from service in 2008.

She has pen down two Tulu plays, Amar Baiderl and Tulunada Bollilu, which have been staged by theatre troupes Sumanasa Kodavuru and Karavali Kalavider.
