Udupi :District Mahila Congress activist’s convention was organised at Udupi Ammani Ramanna Shetty Auditorium on Saturday March 1. The programme was organized to deliver and implement the 10 years achievements and programmes of the UPA government led by congress at the centre.
A rally from service bus stand was inaugurated by Pramod Madwaraj, MLA, Convention was inaugurated by Vinay Kumar Sorake, Minister for urban development and District in charge.
State Mahila Congress president, Manjula Naidu presided over the function. More than 2000 Mahila Congress activists participated in the convention however to listen to Naidu not even 200 activists were there.
All the senior congress leaders took so much time for speech that there were no one to listen to the state president.
Sorake, urban development minister said that if opposition members supported, UPA government might be successful in giving 50% reservation for women.
Being a lady the contribution of Indira Gandhi, former PM to the society is immense, so as Sonia Gandhi, being the president of National Congress, is successful in leading the nation from years. He added that congress is successful because of its good work, it never differentiate and give importance to the casts or religion.
He criticized that BJP thinks with the big banner of Modi at every nook and corners of the city will make them win in the upcoming election. BJP has no unity between the leaders. Vajpai became PM because he always followed Mahatma Ghandhi’s theory and also LK Advanies contribution is unforgettable. Though Modi has no value for such a senior leader.
MLA said that from years BPL Problem issue was pending and which was completely sorted out after congress government came to power. There are many schemes introduced by state government like Anna bhagya, Ksheera bhagya, Manaswini Pension for unmarried women, housing loan , loan waiver, Ashraya Scheme’s loan waiver, interest-free loans to post pre-degree students, transparent governance and other programmes.
Hegde said food security Act provides option to distribute Rice for Rs. 3 in central level which was opposed by the opposition and Modi said if it was given the public will become lazy.
Steps taken for the implementation of election manifesto out of 181 promises almost 140 promises are fulfilled with in just 2 years. He also demanded women to understand the value of the vote and give him chance to prove himself further.
District Congress president, MLA Gopal Poojary, former MLA Gopal Bhandary, Youvraj, CMC president, Amruth Shenoy, Varonica carnalio and ZP Members, were present.
