DK bandh on March 3, Bishop supports bundh

Mangalore :Owing to the issue of Netravathi diversion project, city is getting extensive support for a bundh call on March 3, from various organisations and Dakshina Kannada political parties said Vijay Kumar Shetty.

Addressing the press conference held here in the city, he said that the plans of the government to implement Netravathi river diversion project in the name of Yettinahole project, which intends to supply water to industries in Chikkaballapur, Kolar, Tumkur districts.
 
Moreover, Shetty cites that people of the district must reject this project as well as he also opposes the selfish interest of both the leading political parties who encouraged the project.

He also mentions that several organizations have decided to mark Black Day on March 3, as government has decided to lay the foundation for the project on this day.

Speaking on the occasion Former MLA MG Hegde slammed T B Jayachandra, minister of Law and order, regarding his supportive move on Netravathi river diversion project.

Besides, P B Mohan, Shashraj Shetty Kolambe, Dinesh Holla were also present at the press meet.

Bishop supports bundh : Mangalore Bishop Rev. Dr Aloysius Paul D’Souza has  also extended support for the March 3 bundh call against Yettinahole Project.

The Bishop said the project if implemented will prove a disaster in the future and criticised the government for deciding to go ahead with the project without considering the opinion of the people. He also urged the government to drop the project.
