Police ransack Sharath Madiwal murder accused’s residence

Bantwal: The police reportedly barged into the residence of one of the accused in Sharath Madival murder case and ransacked the house in the name of searching the house to dig out crucial evidences.

The family members of the accused say that in the name of searching the houses, the police resorted to throwing away the Holy Quran and also tore away several religious books.

Khalander, one of the accused in the case hails from Panolibail of Sajipa Munnur village in the district. The police who came in four jeeps barged into his residence on Saturday and searched the house.

Speaking to reporters, Kalandar’s mother Maimuna said that the police opened a particular cupboard which had books in it. They specifically flipped pages of the Holy Quran and when the family members asked the police to place the Quran back in place, they threw it out.

“They then started flipped the Madarasa books and when we told them that there is nothing that may be useful to them, they said that it is through these literature that our religious teachers get us into butchering innocent people,” Maimuna said adding that the cops dressed in uniform as well as in civil clothes had barged into the house without any search warrant. They alleged that Kalander had received a kick back of Rs one cr for killing Sharath Madiwal.

“They even tore apart the mattress in a bid to find that alleged Rs one cr,” she said adding that Kalander’s marks cards were taken away by the cops.

Meanwhile, Maimuna and her husband Ibrahim have said that they are not aware of Kalander’s whereabouts.

“If my son has committed the crime, let him be punished. The persons who paid him an alleged kick back of Rs one cr too must be arrested. But, stop harassing us in connection to this murder case,” said Ibrahim.
