Bengaluru: Fearing that they may lose their MLC post and face criminal proceedings by the Election Commission of India (ECI), five Congress leaders who had given Bengaluru address to cast vote in the BBMP mayor/ deputy mayor election have canceled their Bengaluru address. This comes after an inquiry conducted by the state election commission through BBMP commissioner, finding that these MLCs violated regulations while registering their names in the city electoral list.

According to the sources, KPCC president Dr G Parameshwar, newly appointed minister R B Thimmapur, former KPCC president Allam Veerabhadrappa, Bosaraju and M D Lakshmi Narayan have canceled their names from the city electoral list and changed addresses too.

All started with complaints surfacing that these MLCs have claimed TA and DA for visiting theor homes in native places despite having residential address of the city, which is against the rules.

After this state election commission too directed the BBMP Commissioner to submit a report.

With five MLCs changing their addresses, the Congress is finding it difficult to retain the mayor post as JDS is already started hard bargaining.
