Mangaluru: Belthangady police detained Francis (32) alias Bijju, who was running an illegal slaughter house at Nooji Kadirudyavara on Saturday.

Based on a tip off from the locals, the police raided the slaughter house. According to sources, a person named Devassy was running the illegal slaughter house in his agricultural land, close to Nethravathi river. The police seized 15 kg of meat and two machetes.

Devassy fled from the spot, while the police managed to take Francis (32) alias Bijju into custody.
