Hindu activist Manoj arrested under Goonda Act

Mangaluru: Police Commissioner R. Hithendra has invoked provisions of the Goonda Act against Manoj Kumar Kodikere, alias Manoj Thokur, an activist of the Hindu Jagaran Vedike on Saturday.

Manoj is taken to the Dharwad jail. This is the fourth case in the city, where the police have invoked the Goonda Act.

According to the police sources, Manoj who was asked to come to the Surathkal police station was arrested. He was accompanied by Sathish Munthuru, son of former Mangalore mayor Rajani Duganna.

He has been accused of various criminal activities and murders. It’s learnt that Manoj is the prime accused in the murder of Kabir and Sukananda Shetty.

Recently, Mangalore city corporation member, Pratibha Kulai had alleged that Manoj threatened her by sending youths while she was campaigning for MP election in Kodikere.

After his arrest, Hindu Jagaran Vedike called for a bandh on Monday, November 3.
