Mangalore: In the presence of the tahsildar of mangalore taluk, the Mangalore rural police raided an illegal gas re-filling plant near garodi temple, mangalore.

From the plant 50 empty cylinders, 30 cylinders of 14.5 kg and 31 cylinders of 5 kg have been found. The house in which the unit was operating belonged to Taranath who was present during the raid.

3 jet pumps which were used to transfer gas from one cylnder to another have also been found. Two wieghing scales were also found which were used to check the exact weight of the cylinder.

As per the sources, it is suspected to be a network which buys gas cylinders from the market in the subsidised rate and sells it in the black market at a higher price.

When enquired, house owner Taranath said that it is a legal unit and he produced 20 gas connection pass books which belonged to 20 different people.

The shocking fact is that  when it is so difficult to get a single gas coonection for the household, how can a person possess 20 different connections..?, the authorities have to answer.

Accoding to another source the local rickshaws used to come to the house for gas re-filling and we could see them going back durig the time of the raid.

It seems to be a big network of illegal gas-refilling and the police and the concerned authorities have the responsility to bring out the truth behind the scene and curb the illegal gas re-filling network.
