Police arrest 7 wanted in 4 cases of looting, cheating

Mangalore:Mangalore Police Commissioner Manish Kharbikar informed that the police have arrested  three persons who had assaulted and looted a person named Valreian Chalres near Rosario Church at Pandeshwar on August 18.

Speaking to reporters here on August 21, Wednesday,  Kharbikar said  a stranger had approached Valerian who was on way to a church, introduced himself as his classmate and then took him  near the Railway Gate where the three assaulted him and robbed him of a gold chain weighing two sovereigns and worth Rs 65000, a cash of Rs 25000, a Mobile handset and  cash of Rs 5000. An ICICI Bank ATM card was also robbed. The Commissioner said if the three were arrested, another accused named Tanzil is absconding.

In another case, one Sagar Gehlot from Rajasthan has been arrested for looting gold weighing 3.644 grams from a jeweler  named Hasmukh Kimraz. The Commissioner said on August 5, Kimraz had   sent  gold weighing nearly 3 kg with Sagar asking him to take it home. However the man had fled with the gold and cash of Rs 75000 which his employer had given him. He was later arrested at  Ahmedabad, the Commissioner said.

In another case, one person named HA Siddique from Ujire was arrested for cheating a woman from Mangalore after selling seven idols for Rs 14 lakhs after making the woman believe that they were antique idols. When the woman realized that she was cheated she lodged a complaint leading to the arrest. Police  are on the look out for one more person Abdul Razak Faizi in this case. A total of 14 idols including the seven idols sold to the woman have been seized.
