Mangalore: MLA of Mangalore South MLA, J R Lobo launched the campaign aiming to keep the Mangalore clean, “Nirmala Mangaluru Abhiyana”, initiated by the Shivabagh Public Welfare Society, here on Thursday, August 22, 2013, outside St Agnes College Mangalore.

The campaign was inaugurated by dumping a basket full of waste into the dustbin.

Speaking to the media, J R Lobo said that in order to keep our city and green, we must first learn to keep our surroundings clean.

It is not the responsibility MCC officials or the administration cannot keep our city clean, but along with them it is the public who have to support this cause. Harmful wastes, especially plastic have to be avoided up to a maximum extent and the organic wastes to be converted into fertilizers, so as to avoid over loading of wastes in the Pacchanady dumping yard. Support from the public is a a key for the success of this campaign, he added.

The waste bins have been sponsored by Louis Lobo, MD, Paramount Reality and Infrastructures.

Corporators Sabitha Misquith, Naveen D’Souza, leaders Judith Mascarenhas, T K Sudhir, Nelson Montheiro, Cyril, Mohan Mendon, Jayakar,  Samartha, Shanthi and others were present.
