Ragging: 10 students arrested in Sullia

Sullia: Ten senior students of  the KVG Polytechnic at Sullia were arrested on August 21, Wednesday on the charges of brutally assaulting a junior student on the pretext of ragging.

The victim Prithvin, a first year computer science student from Mysore, has been admitted to the hospital. It is learnt, he has lost several teeth in the assault.

The arrested include  Kaushik, Karthik, Sachin, Bhavan, Ganesh and a few others. The incident is learnt to have taken place on the night of August 20, Tuesday when the seniors woke him up took him outside, brutally ragged him and then warned him of dire consequences if he divulged the matter before anyone.

But Prithvin who at first told his parents that he had slipped and fell inside the hostel, later told his parents about the ragging when he could not bear the pain.

His parents have rushed to Sullia and he has been admitted to hospital. Prithvin’s mother said the family is being pressurized to withdraw the complaint.
