Mangalore: “The PCPIR (Mangalore Petroleum, Chemical and Petrochemical Investment Region) plan in the district will be scrapped; if people do not want the plan to be implemented, it will not be executed”, said B Janardhana Poojary, Congress candidate from DK Lok Sabha constituency, addressing a press meet at the party election office on Thursday March 27.

Karnataka has been eyeing the project since 2007, but dropped the idea in 2010 after mass protests and oppositions here. However Poojary in the procedure of campaigning had assured that the plan will not implemented, in turn inviting a lot of criticism.
Poojary maintained his stand on his statements on the need for reservations to Brahmins and GSB community members. “There are poor people in Brahmin and GSB communities as well and when all other communities have reservations, why not give reservations to these communities too?,”he said.
However when questioned why to adhere to a caste rather than working for the welfare of the poor, he said that it is important to segregate according to a caste because the constitution states it.
He also promised of promoting industrial hub in eight districts of the state, under public-private partnership, if he is elected as the MP. The idea, he said, was developed when he was the parliamentarian last time and halted as he was not re-elected. The project if implemented will generate employment and encourage the youth of the district, he added.
Taking on BJP’s prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi, Poojary declared that his fight is against Modi. He guilelessly said, “A man like Modi cannot win the election, this is not a presidential election wherein an individual is elected. They are projecting an individual more than the party which is against the law of the nation and the Indian Constitution.”
Poojary posed several questions to Modi and alleged that the reality was something different when compared to the development works in Gujarat which are being publicised.
Addressing Modi, he said, “It is your duty to deliver truth to the entire nation, although you have been trying to project artificial growth in Gujarat”, he accused.
Lastly he said “The people know and have not forgotten your (BJP’s) violence, we need peace or violence, it is the public to decide.”
