Kasargod: In a shocking incident reported from Kanhangad, a couple reportedly sold their two children. The incident which took place a year ago, has come to light quite late. Hosadurga Police have arrested four persons including the father of the children. A case has been registered against the mother. The other three arrested are said to be middlemen.

The arrested persons are Sulaiman (48) of Kanhangad South, the father of the children, middlemen Kolavayal Rasheed (23), Basheer (42), taxi driver hailing from Iriya but residing in Kundapur and Moidu (55) of Kanhangad.
A police team led by Kanhangad DySP Pradeep Kumar is investigating the case. It is learnt, the children have been sold a year ago but the case came to light just two days ago.
As per information available, the two children were sold for Rs 3.25 lakhs. Sulaiman has married twice and is a father of 12 children from his two marriages. The girl child was one and a half year old while it was sold, and the male child was six months old. The girl baby was sold for Rs 1.75 lakhs and the boy for Rs 1.5 lakhs, police said.
It is learnt, the children were sold to two families of Mangalore with the help of middlemen after availing the help of an advocate of Mangalore.
Though police have investigated, they could not trace the families and the advocate. It is said the advocate had got Rs 25000 as fees for his work.
Sources, say the father of the children has admitted during interrogation that he had sold the kids for money as he was finding it difficult to manage his family and take care of his other children.
Police said the accused is being subject to further interrogation.
