Expedite NH works in district: Mahadevappa

Mangalore: State Minister for Public Works Dr HC Mahadevappa has instructed the authorities concerned to expedite all highway works taken up in the district.

He was addressing a meeting of National Highway and PWD officials after reviewing progress at Circuit House here on Saturday May 24. He directed the officials to procure all raw materials required for the Shiradi Ghat Road development by September and then take up the works. Prior to this the Maani-Mysore Road works should be completed as it would serve as an alternate route when Shiradi Ghat works are undertaken, he said.

He directed that the exit road from the Mangalore Airport be developed at the earliest by the Karnataka Road Development Corporation Ltd. He also directed the officials to take up the Tokkottu-Mudipu Road development through Central Grants and the Mudipu-Melkar Road through PWD grants.

He further elicited information from the NH officials pertaining to Pumpwell Circle and directed officials to expedite the works.

Necessary funds would also be released for the early completion of the Mini Vidhana Saudha works in Mangalore, the Minister informed.

Deputy Commissioner A.B. Ibrahim who also spoke said the Pumpwell-Padil Road  has been entrusted to Mangalore City Corporation by the NH Department. At the same time he observed that it would be better to entrust the road to the PWD  from the point of view of its development as the  road links four taluks of the district.

K Abhayachandra Jain, State Youth Services and Fisheries Minister, JR Lobo, MLA of Mangalore South and other officials were present.
