PWD minister: 6.5 crore released for Ullal – Mani road

Mangalore, May 25:  PWD minister Dr H C Mahadevappa laid the foundation stone at Thokkottu junction, on Saturday May 24. The widening of two lane road from Ullal to Mani will overcome unprecedented traffic blocks, as there are many educational institutions and hospitals in addition to IT Park along this stretch.

Minister Mahadevappa said that the state government has released Rs. 1.5 crore and the central government has already released Rs 5 crore. Thus, Rs. 6.5 crore has been released to start the work. The distance between Ullal to Mani is 26 km and the widening work will be undertaken on a stretch of 15 km.

He further declared that the road will be converted into a four lane road and road would be extended up to one metre on each side and tarred. The bus stops from Ullal to Mani will be renovated. Moreover Kuthar, Natekal, Asaigoli junctions too will be developed.

Health minister and MLA of the constituency U T Khadar, MLA J R Lobo, deputy commissioner A B Ibrahim, local leaders were among others present on the occasion.
